Have searched in vain for recent forum posts on this topic but in vain!

We are setting out on Wednesday from Kalgoorlie to cross the Nullarbor later in the week and wonder whether anyone has recently noticed the diesel prices and which are are dearer.

It has been some months since we came over to WA and obviously my short term memory has gone, along with the warm weather!

Thanks,
Heather G

Norseman BP 135.9

Thanks Phil,

I think we may have bought fuel there on our way west.

Heather,

all 3 outlets at Norseman are about the same price and are pretty cheap compared to what's ahead on your drive. I know they are quite close to Kalgoorlie, but if it means being able to bypass Balladonia (always very expensive) and Caiguna (ditto) then I suggest topping up in Norseman.

I'm not sure of your capacity but if you can get to Mundrabilla then that's another cheapie. Mundrabilla is a SAFF outlet (South Australian Farmers Fuel, I think), same as one in Ceduna (sorry forgot the brand but it's the one on the corner as you are leaving town. These days I think Eucla matches Mundrabilla's price but M is easier to get to with a van.

By the way, we stopped overnight once right in the middle of Kimba right at the railway crossing and opposite an IGA. There were toilets there as well. Quite OK for an overnighter especially if you need to stock up.

Have a safe trip home.

Thanks Gone Bush,

With an 80 litre fuel tank on the Navara and towing 2 1/2 tonne, we are lucky if we get 400kms (with a tail wind) before we have to fill up.
Carrying an extra 40 litres helps - but we will be topping up in Norseman. We discovered the service station in town to be cheaper than the one on the highway last time there.

Have taken note of your information to refer to when we are driving - thanks.

The camp at Kimba may be handy too - the road between Ceduna and the intersection at the Pt Augusta end is all new to us at this stage as we went the long way around the Eyre Peninsula on our way to WA in March.

Taking the long way home to the South coast NSW via Flinders Ranges, Broken Hill and then Coffs Harbour in Northern NSW to visit relatives first.

Regards,
heather G

South coast of NSW?

Heather we loved our visit to Eden. Thought it was a terrific town.

Is that anywhere near your place?

We are about three hours driving time north of Eden - near Ulladulla.

It is a lovely part of Oz too.

A couple of weeks ago we crossed and found that there was a 10c per litre difference between Eucla in WA and the BP in SA on the border.
So if you have to fill up at the border the WA side was by far the cheaper

Heather G,

Probably wont help - but might make you feel a bit better about diesel fuel prices today;

From our 2002 trip log of our around Oz trip:

Ceduna: 89.9 cents/litre
Eucla: $1.10 c/litre
Balladonia Roadhouse $1.26/litre (dearest for trip - and we didn't fill up there!).
Norseman: $92.9 c/litre

Considering 7 years have passed, it's not too bad.

For info: Balladonia was the dearest ($1.26/ litre) and Rockhampton was the cheapest at 74.9 c/litre (with a "shopper docket, it was reduced a further 8 c/litre).

Thats a hell of a difference!

Have a great trip!

Cheers, Matt

Thanks Rocco,
Very kind of you.
You really should join up and become a member then you could have your own blog.

I will start another one when we leave here probably. Will have lots to write about in the Flinders R in SA which we have only been to very briefly. That is another beautiful N Pk.

Yes, we have enjoyed parts of WA very much. The few weeks in Geraldton set us back a bit and we havent really seen as much as we had intended but we will leave that until next time.

Regards,

Heather
PS the heater has been running almost non stop since we arrived in kal whenever we are in the van. It will be a bit cooler when we are bushcamping across the Nullarbor and beyond!
